External Hemorrhoids
External Hemorrhiods
If you suffer with external hemorrhoids, your symptoms are likely somewhere from slight discomfort, to pain and agony in the extreme. Not fun for anyone. Just suffering with the physical aspect of swelling in the anal area makes sitting in any position very uncomfortable. The external variety of Hemorrhoids presents a whole new set of symptoms and pain. The embarrassment factor is present for most, especially if even walking becomes difficult or stinted especially following a difficult bowel movement.
The manifestation of external Hemorrhoids relates to varicose veins. Hemorrhoids are basically a varicose vein in the anal area. The swollen or dilated vessels protrude in the anal area as fleshy clumps. They can become large enough to block or partially block the anus and interfere with bowel movements, making using the toilet an excruciating exercise. Even if passage is not blocked, they still can cause severe pain. This is by far the most common form of Hemorrhoids to produce bleeding. Each bowel movement can further aggravate symptoms by pushing on this very delicate and sensitive tissue. Sometimes the Hemorrhoid can hemorrhage, leading to persistent bleeding. A persons’ clothing can become soiled, and with bleeding hemorrhoids there is a further risk of infection. E-coli bacteria is readily exposed to the blood stream, and for extreme conditions, a person may feel quite sick with their immune system under assault. Almost no topical solutions will solve the problem at this stage, and many could promote the symptoms.
Looking to solve your problem quickly would be prudent at this level of suffering, sometimes referred to as category 4 or stage 4 Hemorrhoids. Left untreated, surgery may be the option of last resort, and likely to be a very painful option. The surgical techniques that may be required could be rubber band ligation or a hemorrhoidectomy. The rubber banding method or ligation involves using a device that leaves a rubber band around the Hemorrhoid to cut off blood flow, and eventually the Hemorrhoid shrinks, the tissue dies, and the Hemorrhoid falls off. The other procedure mentioned, involves a surgical technique using a scalpel to remove the Hemorrhoid.
Keep in mind that external Hemorrhoids can be serious and should not be dismissed. Exploring your treatment options with your doctor is always prudent, but don’t discount some of the natural approaches that are available to you and may bring you quicker results.
